Teacher Interview

The Social Studies teacher chose to teach this subject because of his love for stories. Growing up, reading was one of his passions, including both fiction and historical texts. He finds history inspiring and interesting, and he sees teaching Social Studies as a form of storytelling. Through learning about past events, students can better understand the world today. He also believes that history is still very relevant, as many lessons from the past can be applied to modern society.

The teacher believes that Social Studies is extremely important for students, especially in today’s world where information comes from many sources such as social media, the internet, and television. Because not all information is reliable, students need to learn how to check sources, conduct research, and recognize bias. He also feels it is important for students to feel comfortable sharing their opinions and perspectives in a respectful and safe environment. In addition, learning history helps students understand where we came from, which allows us to better, and where we are headed.

In terms of study strategies, the teacher encourages students to find learning methods that work best for them, since everyone learns differently. This may include drawing diagrams, listening carefully, taking notes, or highlighting key points. He emphasizes practice, discussion, summarizing information, and organizing sources. Through this course, students develop important skills such as forming strong arguments, supporting ideas with evidence, debating, presenting, and staying aware of current world events. Finally, he advises students to stay curious, ask questions, and explore historical topics that genuinely interest them, even beyond what is taught in textbooks.
